Saranac ~ GPA

Saranac is a brewer out of Utica, NY and they indicate that they are family owned, kinda nice is the age of big brew companies. As of this post they have been brewing since 1888 and they are 126 years of goodness.

Ginger Pale Ale

This is a very interesting beer. Its growing on me, I am typically not big on hoppy beer but this has such a nice balance to it. The noise hits you right away. As you take a few month fulls you really pickup that ginger its got great month feel and tingles. I think if your into IPA's you'll enjoy this beer too. Till the next Pint; happy tasting :)

Brooklyn ~ Blast! Ale

Wow, this is quit the interesting brew, I am not big on IPA but this one is got the hit of hops bit not super heavy. That said if you enjoy an IPA, you should find this one nice but perhaps not as aggressive as you would like. Oh quick note this is an 8.4% APV beer so enjoy it nice and slow. Please note that I had this beer several weeks ago..sorry about the lateness on this one.

Style: Ale
Taste: Light Hoppy
Color: Golden
Aromatics: Mild noise
Rating: 7 out of 10 beer glasses
Alcohol Content:   8.4 % APV

Blast! Ale
I do like this beer but and typically enjoy beers from this brewery. You have to try their Chocolate Stout which for years was one of the only good chocolate stouts you could find in the area....that has changed in a big and good way. Till the next Pint; Happy Tasting :)

Shipyard ~ Melonhead

Shipyard is a brewing Co. out of Portland, Maine. They have been hand-crafting beer for 20 years as of this posting. They have a fairly wide range of beers and styles many of which I have not had but look forward to trying.

Style: Ale
Taste: Clean and mild
Color: Light amber
Aromatics: Watermelon smells
Rating: 6 out of 10 beer glasses
Alcohol Content:   4.4% Alc.

Melonhead
The biggest take away for me was the noise of this beer, very heavy on the melon in a good way. As for the flavors, its light but strong melon overtones. For me its not something I would chase again but I have some girl friends who did like this one. Till the next pint; Happy Tasting :)

Tommy Knocker ~ Cocoa Porter

Very good porter that is not over powering or super heavy. I found it just right for most mild to cool days. really nice month feel and nose of this beer. I also liked the finish as there was allot of flavor hitting at the end.

Style: Porter
Taste: Creamy
Color: Dark
Aromatics: Coco and roasted hints
Rating: 7 out of 10 beer glasses
Alcohol Content:   5.7% ALC

Cocoa Porter Seasonal Ale
Very nice and dark porter. This the first beer I had from the this brewery and it was good. They are out of Colorado, I'll be checking out more from these guys but as with all the good beers I am finding there is not enough time to try them all. :(, let me know if there are any particular ones I should try next. Till the next pint; Happy Tasting :)

Un-successful ShockTop mix :(

So I tried to give this a try.....

The plan was to mix, as the package pictured it the Shock Top Belgian White and the Chocolate Wheat which I tasted and reviewed. Well what a none mix I did. I will put one of the videos here but I am not proud of happy with any of it..Practice on all levels will be in order. back to school, in the mean time. Till the next Pint; Happy Tasting :)

Breckenridge ~ Vanilla Porter

This is a nice porter with a nice finish. I was expecting to pickup the vanilla but I personally did not which is not to say its bad, just the opposite. I found this to be a nice easy drinking brew with the slightest hint of hops. I think you'll enjoy this one.

Style: Ale
Taste: Mild
Color: Dark Amber
Aromatics: Super mild
Rating: 7 out of 10 beer glasses
Alcohol Content:   4 - 5 % range

Vanilla Porter
I have never had anything from this brewery until this tasty beer. I will have to keep an eye out but with so many different beers to try.....you know what I mean. As for Porters or Stouts; the time for me is almost closing this season. Bring on the Summer BEERS :). Until the next pint, Happy Tasting.

This week in the pursuit of good beer

So this week has been a little week, kinda. I tried to make the two Shock Tops into one layered drink but it did not work out so good. I'll post the three trials here but I wish I could have gotten a better result. Looks like more attempts will be in order. I did have and will be picking up another Shock Top brew. Lemon Shandy. It was a really nice beer had three tonight and did not want to write it up after such a drink fest lol ....
